Christian Patterson. Photography, Narrative and the Book

Christian Patterson will share his experiences as an artist and photographer, focusing on two of his bodies of work, Sound Affects and Redheaded Peckerwood. He will share detailed information about the conceptualization, development, publishing and exhibition of his work and provide an in-depth look at the process of making his most recent award-winning work, Redheaded Peckerwood, including:

- Discovering and researching a subject
- Exploring and incorporating an archive
- Appropriating, transforming and incorporating documents and objects
- Editing, sequencing and designing a book
- Translating a book presentation into an exhibition

There will be a portfolio review for the participants to share their work. Translation to spanish will be provided.

Christian Patterson (b. 1972) lives in Brooklyn, New York. His work is collected and exhibited internationally. His first monograph, Sound Affects, was published in 2008. His second monograph, Redheaded Peckerwood, was published by MACK in 2011 to international critical acclaim, nominated for the 2012 Kraszna-Krausz Book Awards and won the prestigious 2012 Recontres d’Arles Author Book Award. Patterson is represented by Rose Gallery (Santa Monica) and Robert Morat (Hamburg/Berlin).

16 hours, divided into four lessons over the weekend
Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  and from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The talk will take place on Friday March 8th at 8 p.m. and will be open to everyone that wishes to attend. It is going to be broadcasted via streaming through our Facebook page. You are all invited.
